Program details
This is a hybrid or blended program providing both in-person and online instruction.
This competency-based course is designed for health information technology. It provides students with project-based experiences in medical, dental health informatics, electronic recording and filing, and insurance billing. Technical instruction includes an introduction, workplace safety policies and procedures, resource management, and employability skills. Emphasis is placed on medical word formation, analysis, spelling, pronunciation, abbreviation, and applications, an overview of healthcare specializations, and understanding of case reports, body systems, clinical/diagnostic/surgical procedures, pathological conditions, medications, and the legal and ethical issues of electronic recording and filing, operation and maintenance office tools, equipment, and software, processing and using forms.
