This program provides in-person instruction only.
The Computer Support Technician program provides training for both new and experienced students, giving them the skills needed to gain employment in a variety of industries, such as Desktop Support, Computer Support, and Field Service Technician. It is also available via distance education and hybrid models with training on how to use Zoom and Canvas LMS. Designed for students with little or no previous computer experience, the Computer Support Technician course is a 22-week, 770-hour class that prepares students for entry-level employment as a Computer Repair Technician. The course covers computer operating systems, computer hardware, software, and prepares students for the CompTIA A+ Industry certification. The A+ Certification is an entry point to the start of a graduates career in the exciting field of Information Technology. The course also includes Network concepts, TCP/IP Fundamentals, printer fundamentals, and virtualization. Students will build a working computer and configure it for use on a computer network. Additionally, students in this course will learn about terminating Category 5e cabling. All students who complete the courses with time remaining in their program may have the opportunity for internships or the opportunity to earn the CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certification. Students will also attend career workshops that cover soft-skills, resume writing, and interview preparation. They are further assisted in their job search by our in-house career placement counselors.
