Program details
This is a hybrid or blended program providing both in-person and online instruction.
From clinics to hospitals to physician's offices, medical billers and coders use medical codes to document patient diagnoses and treatments. Duties include reading and analyzing patient records; determining the correct codes for patient records; using codes to bill insurance providers; interacting with physicians and assistants to ensure accuracy; keeping track of patient data over multiple visits; managing detailed, specifically coded information; maintaining patient confidentiality and information security. Once the student has successfully completed this course, the student will have the opportunity to participate in a non-paid externship at a local medical facility. A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded upon successful completion of requirements for this course.
