Program details
This program provides in-person instruction only.
This Security Officer-Armed Program is a two week, 80 hour training program that provides students the basic skills and knowledge to become a private security guard in any personal protection or private event or business environment. Students will receive knowledge and skills on comprehensive security topics. The course includes classroom instruction with hands on training. Security Guard Stu.dents will also receive CPR Certification as part of the course. This program covers: U.S. and California laws and regulations for Security Guards; Powers to Arrest; Use of Force; Handcuffing: Weapons of Mass Destruction; Report Writing; Public Relations; Safety use of a hand gun, baton, taser gun, hand-held body scanner; and protocols for interacting with First Responders. At the end of this 2-week program, students will be prepared to pass the Guard Card Exam. Students attaining a Guard Card receive compensation that is above the average. Security Guard Students will receive Security Guard Program Certificate of Completion and be ready to work immediately as a Security Guard in any personal protection or private event or business environment. There are no pre-requisite courses. 2 weeks x 5 days x 8 hours= 80 total hours Security Guard-Armed Program 40 hours per week M T W TH F 8:00am - 5:00pm Scheduled days and times are subject to change each semester. Please refer to the AAEC website and/or brochure for the updated days and times.
