The Medical Assistant - Back Office/Front Office Program is a 22 week program that prepares students for a career in medical services and helps students find employment in a medical office, clinic, hospital or other medical facility. The program is divided into Front Office and Back Office segments.The Front Office portion of the program is delivered primarily in person and supported with an online Learning Management System (e.g. NEO, EDMODO) to provide students with curriculum and instruction. Students will learn front office skills: HIPPA requirements, professionalism, customer service, oral and written communication, and medical records, among others.The Back Office portion of the program is primarily in person, as students learn hands-on skills for the back office of a medical office: injection procedures, sterilization, diagnostic testing, EKGs, medications, examinations, and minor surgery prep, among other skills. Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Medical Records are part of the program as well as a 160 hour internship at a medical facility.The student is prepared and expected to take and pass the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants Exam.
