This program provides online instruction, e-learning, or distance learning only.
The Roots of Success Apprenticeship prepares individuals to become credentialed CTE (Career Technical Educator) Environmental Literacy Instructors. The Apprenticeship is competency based, with 2,000 hours of On the Job Training (OJT) and 156 hours of Related Supplemental Instruction (RSI). The OJT is accomplished by teaching the Roots of Success 10-module course which deepens students understanding of environmental problems and solutions, strengthens academic, professional, financial, social entrepreneurship, and advocacy skills, ensures that students acquire the vocabulary crucial for working in environmental fields, familiarizes students with jobs and careers in environmental fields and prepares students for jobs and career pathways in the water, waste, transportation, energy, building, food, open space, and advocacy sectors. The RSI is completed through mentorship with Roots of Success staff. By the end of the Apprenticeship graduates will have achieved competency Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning, Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning, Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning, Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students, Assessing Student Learning, and Developing as a Professional Educator.
