This competency-based (19 areas of competency/ up to 52 weeks) certificate apprenticeship program serves as an entry pathway into the field of mental health, qualifying a candidate for a wide variety of jobs. The job description for a Community Mental Health Worker is that they provide and manage mental health education programs, conduct outreach and engagement activities, peer counseling, and supportive services that help individuals, families, and their communities maximize and maintain mental wellness. They use data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments. They may link health systems, health providers, insurers, and patients to address individual and population health needs. They serve as resource to assist individuals, other health professionals, or the community, and may administer fiscal resources for health education programs.
