This program provides in-person instruction only.
The Personal Trainer Certificate of Achievement prepares students to pass a national personal training exam (NSCA, NASM, ACE) and begin their career in the fitness and recreation industry. Students gain knowledge and practical skills that successful personal trainers need to focus on clients' physical and mental well-being and help clients achieve their goals and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Students begin by learning about health screenings, strength/fitness assessments, and basic exercise sciences to develop exercise and health plans for clients. Progressive, hands-on lab courses then offer students opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills in the Cabrillo College Wellness Education Center by designing cardiovascular, strength, and mobility fitness programs to help enrolled students-clients achieve their desired fitness and training goals. This certificate is for students considering careers in personal training, strength and conditioning, group exercise, physical therapy, and athletic training. As a certified personal trainer, students can find employment in the fitness industry within fitness centers, parks and recreation, educational settings, private businesses, and corporations.
